Kayla Ellis, MD

Kayla Ellis earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Ball State University in 2018, followed by her Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2023. Upon graduation, she began her residency in anesthesiology and is currently a second-year resident, with plans to complete her training in 2027.

During her residency, Kayla has developed expertise in key procedural areas of anesthesiology, such as pain blocks and line placements. Her work blends technical precision with an in-depth understanding of physiology, chronic conditions, and pharmacology. She values the unique role anesthesiologists play in ensuring patient safety and comfort during critical surgical procedures.

“Anesthesiology incorporates everything we learned in medical school – from physiology to medicines and their mechanisms of action. It’s such a versatile specialty, and I love how much trust we build with patients in such a short time as we guide them through surgery.”

Kayla works with Influent because she believes in its mission to support medical students and residents through the challenges of training.

“Medical school and residency are incredibly stressful. Influent’s resources help ease that burden, and I want to share it with others. We all need that kind of support.”

When Kayla isn’t in the hospital, her life is filled with family adventures and hobbies. She’s a proud mom of boy/girl twins who just turned two, and the family loves spending time outdoors going on walks with their dog Tito, visiting parks, museums, and attending local fairs.

In her free time, Kayla enjoys crocheting (especially stuffed animals), singing, playing the piano, and gardening. She also prioritizes self-care, whether it’s a walk to clear her head, a relaxing massage, or a good nap.
